Rev. Albert Lam, Senior Pastor
Dr. Albert Lam was born and raised in British Hong Kong. In 1982 he and his wife were called to go to the Philippines and served as lecturers at Biblical Seminary of the Philippines. Two years later, he became the Resident Pastor of Grace Christian Church. Upon finishing up his term of service at Grace, in 1991 he accepted the invitation to become the first pastor of Chinese Bible Church of San Diego in California. Since then he has served in the capacity of senior pastor and vision leader at that church for over 21 years. Pastor Lam attended the Overseas Bible Seminary in Hong Kong and Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. Later he received his doctorate degree from Westminster Theological Seminary in California. Pastor Lam preaches regularly at retreats and conferences in U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. He’s also visiting professor of several seminaries in California teaching Preaching to fellow Christian workers.
Pastor Wanda Lam, Mandarin Congregation Executive Pastor
Pastor Wanda was born and raised in Hong Kong. In 1982, she served at churches in the Philippines alongside her husband, Rev. Lam. In 1991, she continued serving with him as he took up ministry duties at CBCSD. In 2003, she became the Pastor of Pastoral Care, tending to the needs of pastors & ministries, oversees small group ministries and serves as a resource person for training lay counselors. She holds a M.A. in Pastoral Care from Bethel Seminary.In 2014, she became the Executive Pastor of the Mandarin Congregation at Main Campus.
Rev. Paul Ho, Cantonese Pastor
Born in Hong Kong, Rev. Paul Ho immigrated to Canada as a teenager. He worked in the banking industry after graduating from college, but left the industry in 1995 to go into full-time ministry. In 1998, Rev. Ho graduated from Vancouver Regent College (M. Div.), and served as associate pastor of Westside Calgary Chinese Alliance Church for eight years, then in 2006 served as senior pastor of Vancouver Newbern Chinese Alliance Church. In 2008, Rev. Ho moved to San Diego and begun serving as Cantonese Pastor of CBCSD. He received his doctorate of ministry from Fuller Seminary. Rev. Ho and his wife Vaness have two children.
Pastor Vaness Ho, Cantonese Assistant Pastor
Pastor Vaness was born and raised in Hong Kong. After graduating from University of Nottingham, she moved to Canada with her family. Married to Rev. Paul Ho in 1995 and served alongside her husband in various churches. In 2008, she continued serving with him as he took up ministry duties at CBCSD. Pastor Vaness was called into ministry, graduated from Bethel seminary in San Diego California in 2013 with a M.A. in Applied Ministry (Pastoral Care). She joined the pastoral team as part-time Cantonese Congregational Pastor shortly after graduation.
Pastor Justin Sim, English Pastor
Pastor Justin is a Korean-American who immigrated to America in sixth grade. He received his theological training from Washington Bible College and Dallas Theological Seminary. He grew up in church, served as a volunteer, became a ministry staff in 1992 and then a full-time pastor since his ordination in 1998. He has a burden for God's people, especially Asian Americans. He enjoys spending time with the family, sports, and learning new things. He is married to Kim and have two children.
Pastor Patrick Hall, Youth Pastor (Jr. High and High School)
Pastor Patrick was born and raised in San Diego into a Christian family that emphasized how we were created for relationship with God and to reach out to others that don’t know God. He himself grew up at Shadow Mountain Community Church where he learned how to study God’s Word and be a spiritual leader as a high school student. He did his degree in International Business at San Diego State University where he studied Mandarin Chinese and spent much of his time during college involved in Campus Crusade for Christ. He also spent a year of college living in Tianjin, China studying Mandarin Chinese. After college Patrick went on to get his MA Intercultural Studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. In his spare time he especially loves to do things at the beach like surfing, bonfires, and think up crazy games with his close friends.
Pastor Eva Huang, Children's Ministry Pastor
Pastor Eva Huang was born in Hong Kong and received college education in Taiwan. She visited CBC in 1995 and later joined CBC in 2001 after immigrating to the U.S. In 2009 she was called by the Lord into ministry and completed her Master in Christian Education from CESNAC in 2012. She has served over ten years in the Christian Cosmic Light Holistic Care Organization. She loves family outings with her husband, Clement, and two children. She enjoys meditating and spending time with God in nature.
Rev. Donald Liu, Resident Pastor of Central Campus
Born in Taiwan, he became a Christian in college. After obtaining his Electrical Engineering Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, he worked as a computer engineer for 15 years. In 2002, the calling to full-time ministry became very clear. In 2003 he was selected by the congregation to help plant Central Campus. Pastor Donald graduated from Bethel Seminary with a M. Div. degree in 2005 and became a reverend in 2008. He now serves with his wife & co-pastor, Sue Liu, at Central Campus.
Pastor Sue Liu, Pastor of Central Campus
Pastor Sue was born and raised in Taiwan. She came to the U.S. for graduate study in Pharmacology and became a Christian through a campus Christian fellowship. She was a biological researcher prior to entering full-time ministry. In 2002, Pastor Sue graduated from Bethel Seminary with a MA in Christian Education, and became co-pastor at Central Campus. Her main responsibilities are adult education and administration, and caring for the congregation alongside her husband, Pastor Donald. Aside from Central Campus ministries, she is also involved with evangelism ministries and Taiwan mission ministry.
TEMECULA VALLEY CAMPUS
Pastor Gary Chang, Resident Pastor of Temecula Valley Campus
Pastor Gary was born in Taiwan and immigrated to New Zealand at the age of twelve. He became born again at the age of thirteen and begun serving and growing in church fellowships. During a short-term missions trip to Turkey, he felt God’s calling for him to go into full-time ministry. In 2000, he came to the U.S. for seminary training, obtaining his B. A. in Pastoral Study from International Baptist College and then his M. Div from Talbot School of Theology. After serving as the Christian Education Minister at Mandarin Baptist Church of Pasadena for 3 years, Pastor Gary joined CBCSD in February 2013 as the resident pastor of Temecula Valley Campus. Pastor Gary is married to his wife, Jennifer, and has one son.
Pastor Matt Thompson, Youth Pastor of Temecula Valley Campus
Pastor Thompson has lived in Southern California his whole life. He grew up going to church, but placed his faith in Jesus Christ at age 13 while on a missions trip to Mexico. He graduated from California Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Behavioral Science, and currently is employed as a Supervising Probation Officer with the Riverside County Probation Department. Pastor Thompson has served as youth pastor at Riverside Mandarin Baptist Church for 13 years. During that time, he learned a lot of Chinese people came to love them deeply. In December 2011, he became the youth pastor at Chinese Bible Church – Temecula Valley Campus. Pastor Thompson has been married to his beautiful wife, Christina, for over 11 years, and they have four children.
Pastor Di-Jen Wang, Assistant Pastor of North Campus
Pastor Di-Jen Wang was born in Taichong, Taiwan. He became a Christian in 1985 at a winter conference and was baptized the following year. In July 2008, he graduated from Chinese Evangelical Seminary of North America (CESNA) and began serving as resident pastor of North Campus in January 2009. He is married to his wife, Shawling, and has two sons and a daughter.
Pastor Mingsheng Qin, 4S Campus Executive Pastor
Born and raised in Yunan, China, Pastor Mingsheng was a university professor before leaving China. In 1991, he came to the U.S. as a visiting scholar and worked in the biomedical research field for more than 10 years. During the meantime, he became a believer in 1994. He sensed the calling to go into full-time ministry in 2001, so he begun studying at Bethel Seminary the following year and graduated in 2009. From 2010 to 2011 he served as a full-time pastoral intern, and then as an overseer of the evangelism ministry. He currently serves as the 4S Campus Executive Pastor.
